![]() ![]() There are so many EXIF, and IPTC tags, Lightroom ain't not never gonna be able to display them all. Sorry mate but if you think typing exiftool -afmode is not easy then you are going to be dissapointed. The easiest way to found out what tag names are lurking in your files is to just call exiftool with a filename, I like to use exiftool -G -t (filename) because it gives the Group names and outputs in tabbed format so I can work with the results. ![]() ( the dot will process all files in the current folder ) Just call exiftool with a list of the EXIF tags you want to display, let's say I wanted file name, raw image sizes, shadow tone, focus mode, and autofocus mode then this command:Įxiftool -filename -rawimagewidth -rawimageheight -shadowtone -focusmode -Afmode. Exiftool can be a bit scarey, it is amazingly powerful, but a really simple command will do what you want. This XMP-tiff tag family is not created, if I first assign a tag in DAM, and geotag the image afterwards.I don't know much about how Lightroom deals with EXIF data but I would bet 27p that it does not display Maker Notes data. I think, it is unnecessary, to create the any of XMP-tiff family tags, at least for non-TIFF images. I would expect that the same library is used in Lightroom. When I deleted the that specific tag, the geotagged file became compatible with the Adobe library. ![]() The problem is in XMP-tiff family that contains an empty ImageDescription tag. I did a thorough debugging with Phil Harvey, and identified the following steps to reproduce the issueġ) start with an out of the camera image (in my case DNG) I have experienced the same thing with a DAM software that uses Adobe XMP library, the information was read, but I couldn't update it. This problem occurs with every file written by Geosetter it seems. Lightroom fails with an error when writing metadata to a file that has been saved by Geosetter.īut the image (before and after geosetter save) can be read just fine in Lightroom and any other app.ģ) Make some metadata changes in LightroomĤ) Right click image in lightroom, in context menu select "Metadata" -> "Save Metadata to File"ĥ) Lightroom attempts to write to file, but fails with error: "Could not write metadata. 0002122: Lightroom cannot write metadata to JPGs saved by GeoSetter ![]()
